Dear Sir or Madam,

EDUCATION AND SOCIAL SUPPORT IN THE FACE OF GLOBAL CIVILIZATIONAL CHANGES – CONTEXTS, CHALLENGES
AND DEVELOPMENT PERSPECTIVES
INCLUSIVE EDUCATION IN THE CONTEXT OF SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION
organized by:
University of Siedlce, Poland
Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Ukraine
Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Bulgaria
The conference creates a space for interdisciplinary debate on how innovative solutions in education and social support can address the challenges of a rapidly changing world. Contemporary civilizational transformations and the dynamic development of technology fundamentally redefine the functioning of individuals and society, thereby setting new directions for education and social support systems. In the context of ongoing digitalization, automation of work processes, and the globalization of information flow, it becomes necessary to develop a new approach that considers both the developmental potential of these changes and the accompanying social and individual risks, including the risk of dehumanization of relationships, increasing inequalities, and a decline in psychological well-being.
Changes in the cultural and social space imply a shift in the focus of current educational assumptions toward the development of critical thinking, cognitive flexibility, creativity, and student agency, understood as the ability to act responsibly and consciously while anticipating the consequences of one’s actions. At the same time, social support systems should enhance well-being, promote digital inclusion, and counteract technological exclusion, which represents one of the key challenges of contemporary society. In practice, this means the need to create educational environments that enable effective human-technology collaboration while ensuring the protection of psychological well-being and social agency. In this context, education and social support become spaces for strengthening responsibility and adaptive competencies—skills and abilities that allow individuals and communities to respond effectively to civilizational and technological transformations. These competencies form the foundation for functioning in a dynamic, multidimensional, and ambiguous reality.
In the outlined context, the concept of social inclusion gains a new dimension, with its scope expanded to include phenomena arising as side effects of the aforementioned transformations, such as digital dehumanization, alienation from the social world, and the decline of empathy.
We invite educators to engage in reflection and discussion on the current condition of humanity and the resulting areas of social support.
We propose a discussion around the following thematic areas:
1. Inclusive education as a space for realizing the ideas of equality and agency in a diverse society.
● Dimensions of inclusion and diversity – ethnic and cultural minorities, students with special educational needs, emotional and behavioral disorders, social support for adults and offenders.
● Social work and pedagogical practice with individuals in difficult life situations – models of support, empowerment, prevention, and resocialization.
● Institutional, ethical, and political implications for inclusive practice – interdisciplinary cooperation, standards, responsibility, and sustainable development.
2. Contemporary contexts of education and social support in the face of civilizational, technological, and cultural changes.
● Education and social support as spaces for strengthening responsibility and adaptive competencies.
● Education in the era of digital culture and artificial intelligence – implications for pedagogical practice.
● Implications for designing educational environments within the context of civilizational, technological, and cultural transformations.
3. Education in response to the need to develop prosocial competencies and global awareness.
4. Connecting theory and practice in education and social work: global perspectives on well-being, justice, and a sustainable future.
● Social work and social services in the era of global challenges: from local interventions to macrosystemic changes.
● Standards of social work in ensuring social justice, quality of life, and well-being.
● The role of professional education in shaping the competencies of future social workers.
